Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t the most brilliant cookie in politics. Still, when she said that the Keystone XL Pipeline would export natural gas, she exposed herself as an absolute idiot.
To be opposed to something, especially in politics, you have to have a baseline knowledge of the subject you’re against. If you aren’t knowledgeable about it, you should keep your mouth closed and research before speaking on it. Unfortunately, we live in a social media generation where anyone can say whatever they want, even politicians.\
AOC has a large supporter base for some reason. She can influence people to believe what she wants, and they rarely seem to investigate the topic.
On November 1, 2021, the National Resource Defense Council published an article titled “What is the Keystone XL Pipeline?” It outlines everything from what to wear to President Trump. When you read it, the first sentence says, “The Keystone XL Pipeline extension, proposed by TC Energy (then TransCanada) in 2008, was initially designed to transport the planet’s dirtiest fossil fuel, tar sands oil, to market and fast.”
A quick 30-second search resulted in the answer that AOC needed, and she didn’t do that. On March 14, 2019, Indian Country Today wrote an article. It said, “Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, had questions for Wells Fargo Chief Executive Officer and President Timothy Sloan about the bank’s involvement in the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL Pipeline March 12.”
It’s not a lack of resources, and it’s not a new obsession of AOCs to attack the Keystone XL Pipeline. She’s been going at this for years. The lack of basic knowledge should make voters question their efforts to support her on any topic, especially the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Even her claim that “line 3” was going to pump natural gas, The Federalist already wrote about line 3. “Early this month, the oil began to flow through the newly built Line 3 replacement pipeline from the Alberta tar sands, running a 337-mile stretch through Minnesota to end up at the Superior Terminal in northwest Wisconsin, just across the border from Duluth.”
The lack of investigative capability that AOC has shown should discredit and disqualify her from involving herself in any bills or questioning about the Keystone XL Pipeline. She’s shown that she’s willfully ignorant on the issue.
Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded over Twitter and said, “In, out; oil, gas; Canada, American, please don’t confuse liberals with facts.”
The entire situation is ridiculous. President Joe Biden’s administration and other Democrats can’t get their act together, and it’s hurting the American people.
