House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) described the horrible state of the border on Tuesday. He said the border is a disaster and not “secure” like President Joe Biden’s administration wants the public to believe.
McCarthy invited the president to the border with no response. On Wednesday, Fox’s Peter Doocy followed up with McCarthy’s invite asking the White House if the POTUS will finally go since he “has never been down to the border.”
Doocy asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre whether Biden would “RSVP” to McCarthy’s invitation to join him in visiting the crisis at the border.
Jean-Pierre quickly snapped back at Doocy, repeating, “he’s been there.” Of course, this is simply misinformation coming from the press secretary, and Doocy followed up by asking when.
Jean-Pierre continued disregarding the question. She did say that President Biden had acted on the border, which neither answers the question nor points to any practical measure. The fact that the press secretary can laugh and smile in the face of her observers when constructing a self-evident fabrication is evidence of the very “misinformation” Democrats say conservatives impose on the public.
Despite the crisis, Biden still hasn’t made it to the border. On October 21, 2021, he said that he hadn’t “had a whole hell of a lot of time” to go to the U.S. border.
Luckily, Jean-Pierre did get fact-checked by another Fox reporter who knows a lot about the southern border. Bill Melugin, a widely respected reporter covering the border crisis, called the White House out on the outright lie. “This is not true. President Biden has never visited the border in his entire political career,” he said. “He drove past the border in the El Paso, TX area while on the campaign trail in 2008.”
