President Joe Biden’s motorcade was greeted with unexpected messages from supporters urging him to step down during a visit to Long Island on Saturday. The signs, displayed by a small group of locals, included pleas such as “PLEASE DROP OUT FOR U.S.” and “THANK YOU! NEXT…”
The signs were a stark contrast to the usual warm receptions in Democratic strongholds. One of the most notable signs read, “WE LOVE YOU BUT IT’S TIME,” as captured by Bloomberg News senior White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs. This unusual display followed Biden’s heavily criticized debate performance against former President Donald Trump, which even his supporters admitted was lackluster.
Adding to the scene, a plane flying along the coast from Montauk to Sag Harbor carried a banner that read, “BI-DONE!” This caught the attention of Trump, who shared the image on social media with the caption, “Spotted flying over East Hampton this evening…”
Despite these visible signs of discontent, Biden continued his scheduled campaign stops, meeting with high-dollar donors and assuring them of his ability to lead. The president’s visit included mingling with celebrities and elites in the Hamptons, with notable figures like Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Michael J. Fox attending a gathering at the home of billionaire Barry Rosenstein and his wife Lizanne.
“We have no choice but to believe Biden will redeem himself,” one attendee told the New York Post. “The alternative is so unthinkable. I’m going and everyone I know is still going.” Another attendee added, “I wanted to go see the train wreck. I’d rather choose someone from a phone book than have Biden.”
Amidst these events, Biden also held a campaign meeting with his campaign co-chair, pushing back against claims that a planned family gathering at Camp David would include discussions on the future of his campaign. A White House official criticized an NBC News report suggesting such a discussion, stating, “The premise of the story is not accurate,” and reaffirming that “Joe Biden is and will be the Democratic nominee.”
As Biden’s campaign remains on the defensive, the president continues to face scrutiny and calls for a change in leadership from within his own party.
