Border Patrol Arrests Gulf Cartel Hitman Inside US As ICE Targets Criminal Networks

A suspected leader of hitmen for the Gulf Cartel was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents in Michigan. Detroit Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Morris confirmed the arrest of Melquiades Salgado-Garza, whose criminal background includes multiple felony charges.

Authorities say the arrest was part of an operation aimed at capturing illegal immigrants with ties to organized crime. Salgado-Garza had previously been apprehended for burglary, forgery, and immigration violations before reentering the U.S.

During the same enforcement push, Border Patrol agents from the Sault Ste. Marie Station detained a suspected member of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang involved in human trafficking and violent crime. The individual was found attempting to reclaim a vehicle seized by authorities.

At the Marysville Station, another arrest was made when agents encountered a Mexican national who has repeatedly entered the U.S. illegally over the past two decades. The individual has been deported multiple times and is now being processed for removal once again.

Since President Trump’s second term began, immigration enforcement efforts have intensified, with ICE and Border Patrol executing mass arrests of illegal immigrants with criminal records. Over a thousand individuals have been taken into custody in recent weeks as part of the crackdown.

Federal officials have also raised concerns about cartel tactics, warning that these organizations are becoming increasingly aggressive. Intelligence reports suggest that Mexican cartels are considering using explosive drones against U.S. law enforcement, prompting the administration to take additional action.
