Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward has added his voice to the growing chorus of criticism against Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent campaign ad. Ward, whose image appears in the ad without his permission, labels the video as hypocritical and misleading.
“The hypocrisy knows no bounds,” Ward told Fox News. He expressed particular frustration with Harris’s attempt to portray her record as a prosecutor in a positive light. “It’s disingenuous and her campaign ad, somehow now, touting her reputation as a prosecutor as a positive thing, she was attorney general under three of the worst tragedies that had befallen the citizens of the state of California,” Ward stated.
The District Attorney joined Sheriff Mike Boudreaux in denouncing the use of their images without consent. Both officials argue that professional courtesy would have required notification before using their likenesses in a political ad.
Ward emphasized that he does not want the use of his image to be construed as support for Harris, either in her current candidacy or her past role as California’s Attorney General. This sentiment echoes Sheriff Boudreaux’s explicit statement of support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 race.
The controversy surrounding this ad highlights the complex relationship between law enforcement and political campaigns. It also underscores the importance of accurate representation in political advertising, especially concerning sensitive issues like border security and crime prevention.
As the election approaches, Harris’s campaign may face increased scrutiny over its portrayal of her law enforcement record and relationship with local officials.
