Dan Crenshaw’s Latest Outburst Proves Why Conservatives Don’t Trust Him

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) is facing new scrutiny after a hot mic caught him making a violent remark about Tucker Carlson. During an interview with Great Britain News, Crenshaw was asked if he had ever met Carlson. His response was immediate: “If I ever meet him, I’d f***ing kill him,” followed by a comment that Carlson was “the worst person ever.”

The incident set off an uproar among conservatives, many of whom have long been wary of Crenshaw’s establishment ties. Elon Musk reacted to the footage, questioning why Crenshaw was so fixated on Carlson. Meanwhile, Carlson directly responded by inviting Crenshaw to sit for an interview, writing, “Why don’t you come sit for an interview and we’ll see how you do? I’ll send you my address.”

Crenshaw’s hostility toward Carlson is opposing nothing new. The congressman has repeatedly criticized the former Fox News host for opposing U.S. involvement in Ukraine. Crenshaw previously explained that backing Ukraine was not about protecting its democracy but about weakening Russia’s military — an admission that he was supporting a war he did not expect Ukraine to win. Carlson, an outspoken critic of interventionist policies, has repeatedly called out this approach as reckless and wasteful.

The two have exchanged personal attacks as well. Crenshaw has labeled Carlson a “click-chaser” who spreads “false narratives” for profit. Carlson, in return, has mocked Crenshaw’s foreign policy views, referring to him as “Eye Patch McCain” in reference to the late Sen. John McCain’s interventionist stance. Last year, Carlson went even further, calling Crenshaw “one of the dumbest, most liberal Republicans” in Washington.

Following the backlash, Crenshaw laughed off questions about his remark, dismissing concerns when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) asked him to clarify. However, Great Britain News reporter Steven Edgington, who recorded the moment, responded directly, saying, “We literally have it on video.” Though the footage was removed from X, it continues to circulate, keeping the controversy in the spotlight.
