DOGE Employees Face Online Threats As Federal Authorities Step In

Employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are being harassed after their names were exposed online, leading to a federal investigation. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin confirmed Monday that his office is looking into whether the targeting of DOGE staff broke any laws.

Martin made it clear that his team is taking the situation seriously. “We also have our prosecutors preparing,” he stated, adding that his office is in contact with the FBI and other agencies. Though Martin did not name specific individuals behind the harassment, he signaled that legal consequences could be imminent.

The controversy erupted after published the names of several DOGE employees, revealing their identities and emphasizing their lack of government experience. Their names then circulated on X, where some users issued threats. Musk responded by stating, “You have committed a crime,” suggesting that legal action could be pursued.

Martin assured Musk in a letter that his office would protect DOGE employees. “We will pursue any and all legal action” against anyone who impedes your work or threatens your people,” he wrote. He also criticized the previous administration for failing to act when similar incidents occurred.

Some claim that identifying government employees does not qualify as doxing, while others argue that the exposure of DOGE workers was meant to intimidate them and undermine their work. The legal questions surrounding the case remain unresolved.

Musk, meanwhile, has continued to defend his staff’s qualifications, posting on X, “Time to confess: Media reports saying that @DOGE has some of the world’s best software engineers are in fact true.”
