Family Battles Squatters Allegedly Taking Over Elderly Father’s Colorado Home

A Colorado family is facing a legal nightmare after squatters allegedly took over the home of William Towns, a 76-year-old man with dementia. Towns, who lives in Colorado Springs, initially invited a homeless woman into his house to help with household chores. However, the woman quickly moved her son, boyfriend, and belongings into the home, according to the family.

Towns’ daughters say the squatters have turned their father’s home into a chaotic environment, starting a mushroom-growing operation in the living room and engaging in illegal activities, including underage drug use. Towns now feels uncomfortable and afraid to stay in his own home, the family claims.

The family has contacted the police for assistance, but they were told that since the woman was invited into the home, it is not considered trespassing. The only option left is to pursue a formal eviction, which is a costly and lengthy process. “We feel abandoned by the system,” the daughters wrote on a GoFundMe page to help cover legal fees.

The Towns family is living on a fixed income, and the high costs of the legal process are adding to their stress. Despite the financial burden, they are determined to regain control of the home and provide their father with the safety he deserves.

As the legal process drags on, the family remains hopeful that justice will prevail and the unwanted occupants will be removed.
