FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker is facing scrutiny over his connections to China just a month after taking office. Tucker, who had never served as a firefighter before his appointment, previously ran a private security firm, T&M USA LLC, which had ties to convicted Chinese billionaire Miles Guo. Guo, convicted of fraud and money laundering, admitted to working for Chinese intelligence.
Images of Tucker and former federal prosecutor Duncan Levin, a T&M vice president, surfaced showing them with Guo at his Manhattan apartment. This revelation has raised serious questions about the commissioner’s past associations, especially amid growing corruption probes in New York City.
Tucker’s connections are even more concerning in light of his ties to Lin Gui’an, an assistant director in the NYPD who is linked to the Chinese Communist Party through various roles. These connections have deepened concerns about foreign influence and corruption in key city offices.
This scandal follows the recent indictment of two former FDNY chiefs, Brian Cordasco and Anthony Saccavino, on charges of bribery and corruption. Additionally, NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban recently resigned amid a federal investigation, and other officials tied to Mayor Eric Adams are also under investigation for possible corruption.
As the investigation widens, Tucker’s role in city politics and his past business dealings are coming under intense scrutiny.
