Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has issued a sharp rebuke of FBI Director Christopher Wray, calling for his resignation after seven years at the bureau’s helm. In a detailed letter, Grassley accused Wray of allowing political bias to erode the FBI’s credibility.
“For the good of the country, it’s time for you and your deputy to move on to the next chapter in your lives,” Grassley wrote, pointing to numerous failures under Wray’s leadership.
Grassley criticized the FBI’s handling of Hunter Biden-related investigations, accusing the bureau of suppressing evidence while targeting former President Donald Trump. He described the FBI’s promotion of the Steele dossier as an “Orwellian” effort to push false narratives.
The senator also cited whistleblower disclosures alleging that hundreds of FBI employees resigned or retired to avoid accountability for misconduct. Additionally, Grassley condemned the agency’s failure to properly vet Afghan refugees, leaving the nation vulnerable to security risks.
President-elect Donald Trump has announced plans to replace Wray with Kash Patel, citing dissatisfaction with the bureau’s politically charged actions, including the raid on Mar-a-Lago.
Grassley’s critique highlights growing frustration with the FBI’s direction. As the incoming administration prepares to implement changes, the call for new leadership and accountability within the bureau is gaining momentum.
