Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has introduced a new tipline aimed at preventing illegal voting ahead of the 2024 presidential election. This initiative is part of Paxton’s broader effort to secure the integrity of elections in Texas, encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activities that could compromise the fairness of the voting process.
In a statement, Paxton highlighted the growing concerns over the increase in the noncitizen population in Texas and alleged efforts to manipulate voter registration for partisan gain. The tipline is designed to provide a direct channel for reporting illegal activities, such as vote harvesting and falsifying citizenship status.
“There is nothing more important than the integrity of our elections,” Paxton declared. He assured Texans that any attempt to undermine the electoral process would be met with rigorous enforcement. “I invite all Texans to report suspected violations at our new tipline. Your political liberties and your representation in our government depend on secure elections.”
This announcement comes shortly after Paxton’s office executed search warrants as part of an investigation into allegations of election fraud during the 2022 elections. The operation, which targeted volunteers with the Latino advocacy group LULAC, demonstrates Paxton’s commitment to rooting out voter fraud.
Critics, including Texas state Sen. Roland Gutierrez (D), have accused Paxton of using the tipline to suppress Latino votes, arguing that voter fraud is not a significant issue in the state. However, Paxton’s advisory explicitly states that voters should have the freedom to make their own choices without coercion.
As Texas continues to face challenges related to border security and the influx of undocumented immigrants, Paxton’s tipline is viewed by many as a critical tool in protecting the integrity of the 2024 election and ensuring that every legal vote counts.
