Leftist Lawyers Push Congress To Reject Trump Victory, Defying Voter Will

Two leftist lawyers are urging Congress to block the certification of President-elect Donald Trump, claiming he is disqualified under the 14th Amendment. Evan Davis and David Schulte argue that Trump engaged in “insurrection,” a baseless charge intended to deprive Americans of their chosen leader.

The lawyers hinge their argument on Trump’s second impeachment trial, where seven Republican senators voted to convict him of “incitement of insurrection.” Despite this, the Senate acquitted Trump, rejecting the charge.

Davis and Schulte also cite the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling disqualifying Trump from the ballot, though the U.S. Supreme Court later invalidated it, affirming states cannot block federal candidates.

Lastly, they rely on findings from the discredited January 6 Committee. The committee’s report has been widely criticized, with allegations of witness tampering and false testimony undermining its credibility.

The lawyers propose using the Electoral Count Act to reject Trump’s votes, arguing Congress has the power to determine a candidate’s eligibility. If implemented, their plan would bypass the will of voters, handing the presidency to Kamala Harris.

Critics have labeled the proposal a dangerous precedent, calling it an assault on democratic principles. Trump’s supporters point out that this move mirrors objections raised during the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 victory, further exposing the hypocrisy of the effort.

The House Oversight Committee has since refuted key claims by the January 6 Committee, including allegations that Trump incited violence or encouraged chants of “Hang Mike Pence!”
