Merrick Garland Says He Would Have To Authorize Potential Hunter Biden Charges

Attorney General Merrick Garland acknowledged Wednesday that he would be personally required to approve any charges that may come against Hunter Biden.

For years, Hunter has been facing probes by the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss over alleged tax and gun violations. Zero charges have been filed thus far. Garland has reportedly declined to select a special prosecutor in the investigation to ensure there is not a conflict of interest.

Upon being pressed on if Weiss would be permitted to charge Hunter without facing outside political pressure, Garland told the Senate Judicial Committee that the Delaware attorney general “has been advised that he has full authority to make those kind of referrals that you are talking about and to bring cases in other jurisdictions if he feels it’s necessary.”

“And I will assure that if he does, he will be able to do that,” Garland testified, clarifying he ultimately would need to approve the charges.

“I would then have to authorize it and permit it to be brought in another jurisdiction and that is what I promised I would do,” he added.

This news comes amid ongoing concerns that the DOJ has been politicized under the leadership of Joe Biden, with examples ranging from the DOJ targeting parents attending school board meetings to what seems to be an intentional ignorance of attacks on pro-life organizations.

As was noted by Breitbart News, many Americans have begun to lose faith in the DOJ after it was found to be spying on the 2016 campaign of former President Trump and allegedly continues to ignore Hunter Biden’s “Laptop from Hell.”

According to House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY), Garland already has ample evidence to charge Hunter Biden over the shady contents discovered on his controversial abandoned laptop.
“There’s enough to indict Hunter Biden now, there was enough to indict Hunter Biden three or four years ago with what’s on the laptop,” he stated on the Lou Dobbs’ podcast. “So for whatever reason, this U.S. attorney hasn’t produced very many results.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) appeared on Fox News to discuss Garland’s alleged corruption, telling show host Jesse Watters the attorney general intentionally overruled field agents who did not want to raid Trump’s home, “because the White House wanted it.”

Hawley asserted that Garland is “just a tool” used to push the current administration’s agenda.
