Sara Gonzales has unveiled significant issues with voter registration in Michigan in her latest Blaze Originals documentary, “Voter Fraud: Exposed.” Alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Charlie LeDuff, Gonzales delves into discrepancies within the state’s voter registration system.
LeDuff, host of “No BS News Hour,” highlights a startling statistic: 105% of Michigan adults are registered to vote. “You have 8.3 million registered voters, and you have slightly under 7.9 million adults,” LeDuff explains, noting that not all adults in Michigan are citizens, which further complicates the issue.
“They’ve got a saying in Detroit, which is ‘If you want to live forever, register to vote, but you’re going to die waiting for them to count your vote,’” LeDuff quips, emphasizing the widespread nature of the problem.
LeDuff’s personal experience underscores the issue. In 2020, he received an absentee ballot for a woman named Janet, who hadn’t lived at his address for 25 years. Despite notifying City Hall, absentee ballots continued to arrive for Janet in subsequent years. “In ’23, Janet’s voter registration card came. I called Janet and said, ‘Hey Janet, all I have to do is change my gas bill into your name. That’s two pieces of ID and I can get your Social Security,’” LeDuff recounts.
LeDuff also mentions a house in Michigan, unoccupied for 10 years due to a fire, yet still listed with four active registered voters, one of whom was reportedly born in 1914.
Gonzales emphasizes the broad consensus on the need for voter ID laws. “Almost 80% of Americans left or right agree that you have to be able to prove that you are who you say you are in order to vote, because it’s really freaking important in this country,” she asserts.
The documentary sheds light on the critical issue of voter fraud, prompting calls for more stringent voter ID laws to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
