A “legal analyst” who works for MSNBC said this weekend that the U.S. Supreme Court will be working to bring back segregation to the U.S. following the reversal last month of Roe v. Wade.
Glenn Kirschner is a former prosecutor and now offers opinions that are sure to be attractive to viewers of the leftist cable network. He told host Charles Blow and fellow guest New York Times columnist Dahlia Lithwick that the court is now bent on ending all privacy rights in America that have been established by court precedent.
He added that segregation, contraception, and interracial and gay marriage will all be eliminated. He said, “I don’t believe for a minute they’re not gonna come after desegregation.”
The court overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision in its ruling last month in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, returning the power of regulating or prohibiting abortions to the people of the states and their representatives.
Justice Clarence Thomas joined the 6-3 majority in bringing an end to Roe and also wrote a separate concurring opinion to offer additional thoughts about other rights the court has protected under the Fourteenth Amendment. He suggested that the “substantive due process” doctrine the court used in Roe could be equally suspect regarding judicially declared rights to contraception, same-sex marriage, and other areas.
In the court’s majority opinion, Justice Samuel Alito specifically wrote on behalf of the court that abortion is distinguishable from other substantive due process privacy-related rights because it uniquely involves the “critical moral question” of ending a human life.
Kirschner was more than pleased to fan the flames of concern over things not addressed in the Dobbs case, calling for a “full-frontal assault” on the Supreme Court. His call for action comes as pro-abortion protests outside the homes of conservative justices have been ongoing for weeks, and an attempt was made to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his residence.
Kirschner said that the non-violent assault attack he has in mind should carry the slogan, “It’s the democracy, stupid.”
He also called on Congress to open impeachment investigations into the justices he claimed lied under oath about their support for Roe. He described them as “evasive” and involved in “potential deception” in their “zeal to become justices.”
He also said the “attack” should include packing the court by adding more justices in order to obtain results that are politically desirable.
Kirschner previously said that President Donald Trump is “guilty of negligent homicide or voluntary/involuntary manslaughter” because of people who died during the COVID-19 pandemic.
