Nebraska Democrat Breaks Out In Unhinged Pro-Trans Chant In Legislature

After Nebraska Republicans successfully passed legislation protecting children from dangerous, irreversible transgender procedures, one Democrat state lawmaker exploded at her colleagues — breaking out in an unhinged pro-transgender chant.

Republican-led states across the country have begun banning dangerous procedures such as transgender surgeries, hormone treatments, and puberty blockers for minors — citing concerns about mutilation and sterilization of children who are not old enough to understand these effects on their bodies. Meanwhile, Democrats have been attacking Republicans for these bills, claiming that the GOP is “targeting transgender children” and preventing them from receiving life-saving “gender-affirming healthcare.”

One such Democrat is Nebraska state Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh, who blew up at her colleagues after the “Let Them Grow Act” passed in the legislature by a vote of 33-15.

“We need trans people! We love trans people! Trans people belong here!” the Democrat state lawmaker screamed. “We need trans people! We love trans people! Trans people belong here! We need trans people! We love trans people! Trans people belong here! We need trans people! We love trans people! Trans people belong here! We need trans people! We love trans people! Trans people belong here!”

“You matter. You matter and I am fighting for you. I will not stop,” Cavanaugh ranted. “I will not stop today, I will not stop tomorrow. You are loved. You matter. You belong here.”

She continued her unhinged rant by attacking the Republican state lawmakers that had voted for the legislation — which also included a pro-life amendment that banned abortion after 12 weeks, with limited exceptions.

“Your children are posting things on social media, your children are calling you, colleagues,” Cavanaugh claimed. “You have to live with your vote… You have to live with the role that you play in history in the making today. You have to live with the fact that you vote to take away people’s rights. You have to live with that. The rest of us have to live with the implications of that, but you have to live with that.”

Nebraska Democratic Party chairwoman Jane Kleeb also spoke out against the Let Them Grow Act, calling anyone who supports the bill “extremists.”

“The extremists showed the entire state that they are pro-life in name only since they can’t seem to lift a finger helping kids and families, all they can do is play to the worst of culture wars meant to demean and divide,” Kleeb claimed.

Meanwhile, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R) signaled that he planned to sign the bill in a statement issued soon after it passed.

“All children deserve a chance to grow and live happy, fruitful lives. This includes pre-born boys and girls, and it includes children struggling with their gender identity,” he said. “These kids deserve the opportunity to grow and explore who they are and want to be, and they can do so without making irreversible decisions that should be made when they are fully grown.”
