Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) represents the 22nd Congressional district in central New York state. An attorney, she ran in 2020 against incumbent Anthony Brindisi. In an extremely close race, she was eventually declared the winner by 109 votes on February 5.
President Donald Trump gave Tenney electoral support in her race for Congress. Trump won the district with 54.7 percent of the vote.
Tenney has been very outspoken recently on Twitter in criticizing the Biden administration’s handling of the disastrous withdrawal of U.S. military forces from Afghanistan.
On August 24, she wrote that she was “channeling President Trump” in saying that President Joe Biden is a “dangerous combination of arrogance and incompetence” and is a “low IQ individual” who is “severely cognitively impaired.”
Tenney was retweeting a post by Henry Rodgers from the Daily Caller, who had written an article that day regarding statements made by Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) about Biden’s self-declared deadline of August 31 for the removal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
Crenshaw called Biden a coward and said he is taking his orders from the Taliban while ensuring that Americans would be left behind.
Tenney described the Biden administration’s policy in another tweet as “failure on all levels,” adding that “No Man Left Behind” has been replaced with “Leading from Behind.”
That post was a retweet of NBC correspondent Richard Engel’s tweet reporting that the U.S. embassy had issued and then retracted an alert for American citizens to leave Afghanistan or “they’re on their own.”
On August 28, Tenney retweeted Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway’s tweet posting an exclusive report on The Daily Wire that active duty and retired Navy Intelligence officers were told they are prohibited from “disrespecting” Joe Biden regarding the chaos in Afghanistan.
Tenney wrote that there had been “similar circumstances” claimed during President Obama’s administration.
