Supreme Court Sides With Leftist Agenda, Demands USAID Payments Resume

In a ruling that hands a victory to leftist-backed organizations, the Supreme Court has determined that the Trump administration must immediately release nearly $2 billion in USAID funds. The 5-4 decision forces the White House to process payments that had been frozen as part of an effort to curb foreign aid waste.

Justice Samuel Alito, writing for the dissenting justices, slammed the ruling as an overreach of judicial authority. He pointed out that U.S. District Judge Amir Ali had effectively taken control of federal spending, forcing the administration to comply with his timeline. “Does a single district-court judge who likely lacks jurisdiction have the unchecked power to compel the Government of the United States to pay out (and probably lose forever) 2 billion taxpayer dollars?” Alito wrote.

The Trump administration had justified the funding freeze by arguing that USAID money was being funneled into activist groups that use taxpayer dollars to push political agendas rather than legitimate humanitarian efforts.

Chief Justice John Roberts had previously stepped in to grant a temporary pause on Ali’s ruling, allowing the administration to make its case. However, with the Supreme Court now ruling against the White House, the case has returned to Ali, who will oversee the enforcement of the payment order.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh joined Alito in dissent, arguing that the ruling undermines the president’s ability to determine how federal funds are allocated.

Ali wasted no time after the ruling, setting a new hearing date to expedite the required payments.
