A twin-engine plane crashed onto a busy highway in Victoria, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon, damaging vehicles and injuring four people. The crash occurred near a highway overpass around 3 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The Piper PA-31 aircraft, carrying only the pilot, struck three vehicles upon impact. The crash split the plane into two sections, with wreckage scattered across the road. Emergency responders worked to assist the injured and clear the scene.
Victoria Police Deputy Chief Eline Moya reported that three individuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated locally. Another person required advanced medical care at a nearby hospital. The pilot was conscious but remained trapped in the wreckage during initial rescue efforts.
Eyewitness Tony Poynor described the terrifying moments leading up to the crash. “I saw the shadow of the plane pass over my truck before it started to wobble and went down about a quarter mile ahead,” he said.
The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The pilot’s identity and the flight’s intended destination have not yet been released.
The dramatic incident has prompted an outpouring of concern in the Victoria community, but authorities emphasized their gratitude that no lives were lost in the accident.
