The White House Attacks Ron Desantis For Opposing Child Mask Mandates

The federal government has shown how much reach it’s willing to use during the first half of 2021. Though Covid-19 cases are rising, data shows that Covid-19 infection rates go in a rollercoaster style increase and decrease. Mask mandates are slowly making their way back as the CDC guidance now suggests kids should wear masks in schools and adults should wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.

The government has a fun double standard where they offer a fix to a problem, it doesn’t fix the problem, and they go back to the strategy that didn’t work. A global pandemic isn’t any different. Vaccinated American’s are still contracting and spreading Covid-19 and still dying from Covid-19, but the government said if you got the vaccine, you didn’t have to wear a mask. Now they’re backtracking and saying that you still have to wear a mask? Was the vaccine not good enough? Does it not work?

Ron DeSantis is standing up to the federal government in his state and says, “I’m excited about the upcoming school year. I think if we remembered this time last year there were many parts of the country that wouldn’t open their schools, we thought it was very important that parents had access to in-person education. We were able to do it, and it was unique circumstances. I think our school districts, most of them, did a really, really good job, and I know a lot of the teachers were instrumental in getting the kids back in as well, so we want to thank everyone for doing that. We look forward to this upcoming year being a normal school year, uh, be in person and learn like normal kids. There’s been talk about potential people advocating at the federal level imposing compulsory masks on kids, and we’re not doing that in Florida.”

Thankfully at least one Governor has stood up for his state. Andrew Cuomo said his condition would go around driving people to vaccination sites to get vaccinated, and though that won’t be forced, the government pushing vaccines is terrifying for the continuation of freedom in this country.

DeSantis continued, “We need our kids to be kids. We need them to be able to breathe, and it’s terribly uncomfortable for them to do it.”

If anyone is a parent, they understand the struggle of making a kid wear a mask, especially for a 6, 7, or 8 hours school day. The rate of infection and spread through children is minuscule. According to the CDC, people 18 years old and younger make up 8.5% of Covid-19 infections and have very few deaths. According to a quote from Theodore Strange, MD and interim chair of medicine at Staten Island University Hospital in New York, said: “It appears that young children 0-9 have shown not only in this study but observationally over the last year of the pandemic that this group has little to do with the spread of COVID.”

So, if medical professionals indicate that children are safe inside classrooms, that the transmission of Covid-19 among school-aged children is limited, and that Covid-19 illnesses are common, why is the government mandating that children wear masks in school? I’ll tell you what I believe.

The government has not met the promised Covid-19 vaccination rate, despite having spent billions on vaccines and expecting a return on their investment. Though from a viewpoint, the government has never chastised citizens for not doing anything they advocate. We used to be a free country where you made your own decisions and kept the government out of your family’s decisions. No more. The government will not tolerate it. And don’t even try to express yourself because they will flag the message on social media, and it may be removed.
