President Donald Trump recently spoke out against U.S. involvement in attempts to change Iran’s government. When asked by podcaster Patrick Bet-David whether the U.S. should support efforts to restore the monarchy of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Trump replied that the U.S. should not engage in such actions, saying, “We can’t get totally involved in all that.”
Despite opposing regime change, Trump remains committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He noted that during his presidency, sanctions against Iran severely restricted its ability to fund terrorism and significantly reduced its oil exports. However, Trump made it clear that while he wants Iran to thrive economically, “They can’t have a nuclear weapon.”
In an interview with Al Arabiya, Trump reiterated this stance, adding that while Iran may be close to acquiring nuclear capabilities, it would not have happened under his administration. Trump praised the Iranian people as skilled and intelligent, yet he noted that the country is in “danger” due to the growing tensions in the region, particularly with Israel’s war against Hamas.
Trump’s remarks highlight his continued focus on Middle East stability and his opposition to Iran’s involvement in regional conflicts through groups like Hezbollah. While he expressed concern for Iran’s future, Trump did not speculate on how the country’s situation might evolve, instead emphasizing the importance of limiting Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
