Trump Demands FBI Preserve DEI Records After Agency Shuts Office

President Donald Trump has expressed outrage over the FBI’s decision to shut down its Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) just before the inauguration of a new administration. The FBI’s sudden closure of the office in December 2024 has raised serious questions about the agency’s motives.

“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”

While the FBI confirmed to Fox News that the ODI was closed at the end of 2024, the agency did not explain why. The lack of transparency has sparked widespread criticism and suspicion, especially as the agency prepares for a new presidential administration.

Trump has been a staunch critic of DEI programs, calling them unnecessary distractions from core government operations. He has pledged to dismantle these initiatives and has made it clear that his FBI director nominee, Kash Patel, shares his opposition to such efforts.

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) echoed Trump’s concerns, calling for a renewed focus on national security over DEI policies. Blackburn suggested that the FBI’s focus on diversity initiatives undermines the agency’s primary mission.

DEI offices in universities and government agencies nationwide have been facing growing pushback, with many closing their doors or scaling back their operations.
