Afghanistan. The country of war and the land of sacrifice. The sacrifice of soldiers of many nations and the will of a nation to free themselves from terroristic control. Days grow longer for the Afghan people as they await the complete removal of the United States military and many other military occupants in their country, and the Taliban take governmental control.
Veterans across the nation and the world are speaking out against President Biden and his administration’s military withdrawal process and the decisions that have been made that impact so many people.
Jocko Willink, a former Navy Seal, author, and host of Jocko Podcast, posted an Instagram video in the style of “President Jocko” being in the presidential role as the withdrawal from Afghanistan unfolds.
He is a podcast host and author of “Extreme Ownership,” a book about taking ownership of all aspects of life to hold yourself accountable for mistakes and setbacks. The revolutionary way of thinking guided Jocko in his military career when all cards were against him in perilous battles and defeats in his wartime career.
Jocko said, “There are reports now that ISIS and Al Qaeda are working alongside them. Unfortunately, there are tens of thousands of Americans on the ground there and friends and allies of America on the ground. And these people, Americans, and our allies are all stranded, and that is my fault. They will not be stranded for long. In the next 48 hours, America will be in control of most major airports in Afghanistan. Any resistance we meet from the Taliban or otherwise seize these airports will be eradicated without mercy. We will conduct rapid strike rescue missions from those airports until we have recovered all our citizens, allies, and friends. Any person that interferes with these missions will be killed.”
That is the speech Biden should have given. Biden is solely responsible for the actions that have been taken during the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Other veterans have given responses to the events unfolding in Afghanistan. Jack Carr, former Navy Seal, and author said, “It could have been handled so much better. It’s almost as if we’re trying to make a mess of this” while speaking to Fox News.
This incompetence of leadership has led to detrimental worldwide ramifications that will take years to backtrack. The Biden administration has single-handedly broken the trust of key U.S. allies. The effects are only beginning to take place.
