President Joe Biden is unhappy with Republicans’ attempts to provide American voters with safe, secure, and smoother elections, and he made sure to declare it.
In a lie-riddled address from Philadelphia Tuesday (on the same day Texas Democrats bragged about their efforts to take down a GOP election integrity bill by fleeing their home state), Biden railed against Republican-led state legislatures that are considering or have already passed voting reforms to cut down on potential fraud.
“Have you no shame?” he asked before repeating the lie that voter ID laws and other election security measures are “21st century Jim Crow.”

The Biden administration is not afraid to throw itself behind other Democrats who repeatedly claim voting laws are “racist” attempts to suppress minority voters so the GOP can win more elections. After Biden flip-flopped over a hypocritical attempt by politicians and corporations to boycott Georgia over its newest election law, Vice President Kamala Harris cheered Texas Democrats for abandoning their post in the Lone Star State to chug beers on a private plane and toot their own horns about what a “sacrifice” it was.
“I applaud them standing for the rights of all Americans and all Texans to express their voice through their vote, unencumbered,” she said.
The White House’s beef with election integrity laws is clear. But is there a deeper, more sinister reason for the sudden vigor beyond what the corporate media tenderly labels as “genuine concern”?
As Federalist Publisher Ben Domenech noted during Fox News’s Special Report on Tuesday evening, Biden’s decision to take on election integrity might extend far beyond a simple desire to perpetuate the chaos of the 2020 election:
I don’t think that this is actually connected to what the the former president was saying about the election process directly so much as it was how much the former president did well among black and Hispanic voters in the last election. There’s very much a need on the part of Democratic politicians to reassert a dominance within that demographic when it comes to the voting populace going forward. If you talk to Democratic consultants, they are scared about what numbers they saw the increases of support for Republicans among black males and among Hispanic females, in particular. It really does put a lie to this whole concept of ‘demography is destiny.’ And so they’re seizing on this as something to try to foment racial animosity and in, I think, a very dangerous way … [there is a] level of danger here that I think is going to create all sorts of animosity in ways that is going to drive up the stakes in this upcoming midterm elections, and is going to create all manner of distrust in the process going forward. But this is not just about anything that Donald Trump raised when it came to the 2020 election.
Biden’s escalation of voting rights rhetoric is extreme and somewhat unprecedented, considering his talking points about how the nation needed to “move on” from the 2020 election. But Domenech’s insight points to a larger strategy Democrats would hope to benefit from in the long run.
Former President Donald Trump made historic gains with certain groups during the 2020 election cycle. By the time the results were in, the Republican picked up six percentage points among black men, five percentage points among black and Hispanic women, and four percentage points among Hispanic men.
“It means some voters changed their minds, after either not voting or voting for another candidate in 2016,” BBC noted.
This frustrated Democrats, who for years have campaigned on the monolith that minority voters vote for those on the left side of the political aisle. By claiming the Republicans creating and passing these laws are racist and out to stop minorities from “exercising their rights,” Democrats could create a new level of voter intimidation to scare black and Hispanic voters away from the GOP candidates they are moving toward.
The corrupt corporate media naturally amplifies these claims, exacerbating the charged rhetoric and feeding the narrative that the GOP wants to oppress black people and return to a new era of “Jim Crow” reminiscent of the “Civil War.”
President Biden says there is "an unfolding assault taking place in America today, an attempt to suppress and subvert the right to vote."

Just this week, MSNBC’s Joy Reid compared the possible arrest of Texas Democrats who left the special legislative session in protest to the Fugitive Slave Act, which permitted the federal government to track down escaped slaves in free states and return them to their owners.
“I have to talk to you about this threat to have you all arrested when you return to Texas and supposedly to track you down like the Fugitive Slave Act is still in force now,” Reid said to Rep. Chris Turner. “What do you make of that, those threats?”

The Biden administration is well aware of Democrats’ shortcomings in the 2020 election cycle, as shown by a leaked call in mid-December. The White House knows what it is doing and has the connections in big tech, big corporations, and the corrupt corporate press to spin the narrative. Blaming Trump and Republicans for what the corporate media lets Biden get away with calling “the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War,” Democrats attacking election laws are just hedging their own political power.
