It may be a little late for a spooky Halloween story, but self-proclaimed witches are claiming their spells against President Donald Trump are mysteriously ineffective. As Election Day approaches, these witches believe their efforts to stop Trump are being blocked by a “shield” they say surrounds him.
On social media forums like Reddit’s WitchesVsPatriarchy, numerous witches discuss their failed attempts, including “freezer spells,” which involve placing Trump’s name in water to freeze his influence. Many are disappointed to find their spells have no effect, with one witch describing Trump’s shield as “flimsy but powerful.” They speculate that prayers from Trump’s supporters may be responsible for this protection.

In response, some witches are advising against hexing Trump directly, suggesting spells to support Vice President Kamala Harris instead. They argue that positive energy could yield better results, as hexes on Trump seem only to reinforce his shield, making him harder to influence.
Trump frequently references what he believes to be divine protection, particularly after surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. His followers continue to pray for his safety, which some witches believe is creating the spiritual barrier they struggle to break.

Witchcraft has surged in popularity, especially on TikTok, where WitchTok videos on spells and rituals have amassed millions of views. However, ex-witches like Jenny Weaver caution that witchcraft isn’t without consequences. Weaver, now a Christian minister, says her time practicing magic brought her fear and darkness.
As Election Day draws near, frustrated witches are debating new approaches. Meanwhile, Trump’s followers view his immunity to spells as a sign that spiritual forces may indeed be protecting him.
