Woke DA Faces Backlash After Plea Deal For Antisemitic Attacker

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is being called out after he reportedly offered a plea deal to the alleged antisemitic attack on Waseem Awawdeh, despite the fact that the criminal had threatened to repeat his assault.

Awawdeh was charged with assault as a hate crime, gang assault, menacing, aggravated harassment, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with an unprovoked attack against Joseph Borgen, a 29-year-old Jewish man, in Midtown Manhattan in 2021.

The 24-year-old criminal allegedly used crutches to brutally assault his victim — beating him with the crutches as well as punching, kicking, and pepper spraying him — while allegedly calling Borgen a “dirty Jew.”

The brutal attack took place in Manhattan where pro-Palestinian rioters were seen attacking Jews — harassing and beating pro-Israel counter-protesters, shooting fireworks at onlookers and spitting on people who were trying to eat at a local restaurant.

A video has been released showing Awawdeh celebrating with others after he was released on bail.

The clip was shared on Twitter, along with a caption calling out the left for refusing to condemn the violent attacker.

“I see lots of ‘progressive’ leaders denouncing some vague definition of antisemitism, along with other hatreds. I have not seen ONE of them SPECIFICALLY condemn Waseem Awawdeh, the Arab who beat a Jew,” the tweet read, noting that Awawdeh is “now being hailed as a hero.”

Despite facing a maximum of seven years upon conviction for the various charges, the George Soros-linked Manhattan DA reportedly offered Awawdeh a plea deal with just six months.

On top of the charges, Awawdeh allegedly told a jailer, “If I could do it again, I would do it again,” according to a prosecutor at the attacker’s arraignment hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Looking at his crimes, his lack of remorse and him having expressed that he would be willing to commit the crime again, it is shocking that Bragg was content with such a short sentence.

Critics, including former New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind, called the DA out for his “shameful” decision.

In a tweet, Hikind noted that Bragg “offered Waseem Awawdeh a sweet plea deal with a 6mo sentence, despite the fact that the violent Jew-hater said he would try to kill Jews again and showed no remorse! Awawdeh and a mob attacked Joseph Borgen who was seriously injured and feared for his life!”

The watchdog group StopAntisemitism argued in a tweet that “New York is simply no longer safe for Jews under the supervision of @ManhattanDA.”

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a former New York State judge, and District Attorney, asserted that Bragg has proven “his allegiance” to “criminals.”

New York City Councilmember Kalman Yeger stated that it was “Open season on Jews, encouraged by” the district attorney.

Soon after the assault, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) argued that congressional Democrats were partly responsible for this attack because they had contributed to antisemitism through their frequent use of “incendiary rhetoric” in their attacks against Israel.

Bragg, who was elected in November 2021, received a significant amount of support from Democrat megadonor George Soros — who gave $1 million to the Color of Change PAC, which was spent to elect the left-wing DA.

According to Breitbart News, “Soros has spent millions in local prosecutorial elections, often backing left-wing radicals against incumbent or moderate Democrats. His involvement has coincided with a massive rise in violent crimes in Democrat-run cities.”

Meanwhile, Bragg continues to push his soft-on-crime policies — once vowing to reduce so-called “mass incarceration” by recommending no prison sentences longer than 20 years maximum, “absent exceptional circumstances.”
