Musk Seeks Constitutional Amendment Amid Bizarre McConnell Episode

In response to a tweet featuring video footage of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) suddenly freezing on Wednesday, tech billionaire Elon Musk made an unexpected call for a constitutional amendment. Earlier that day, McConnell experienced an abrupt pause mid-sentence and stood silently at the podium for an extended period, looking confused.

Despite later claiming to be fine, he offered no explanation for the concerning incident. An aide from the senator’s office mentioned that McConnell “felt lightheaded and stepped away for a moment. He came back to handle Q and A, which as everyone observed was sharp.”

A social media account sharing a video of McConnell’s bizarre episode, questioned the capability of senior officials holding high positions in the government.

The post read, “The highest positions of our government, on both sides of the aisle, are held by people who genuinely belong in a nursing home. How are we allowing this to happen?” Elon Musk promptly responded to the post with a tweet of his own, stating, “We need a constitutional amendment. This is insane.”

Shortly before his tweet about the amendment, Musk engaged in a discussion initiated by Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon, who pondered about the lack of a maximum age limit for political candidates despite there being minimum age requirements. Dillon suggested that 80 years old might be too old for holding office and proposed some form of basic test be given.

Musk supported this sentiment and proposed setting an age limit below 70 years old for seeking political office. In previous tweets from 2021 and last year, Elon Musk had shared similar views on age limits in politics. He suggested that an age limit should be established beyond which individuals cannot run for political office.

Additionally, he proposed a maximum age for the start of a presidential term, capping it at 69 years. Musk’s latest call for a constitutional amendment regarding age limits in politics has sparked discussions across social media platforms.
As one of the most influential figures in the tech industry with a long history of engaging in political discourse, Musk’s opinion on the issue could spark future discussions between lawmakers and the public about enacting such policies.
