‘Sanctuary’ Hartford Released Illegal Accused Of Attack On Minor

The public is waking up to the wave of violent crimes committed by illegal migrants allowed into the U.S. by the Biden administration. In the latest shocking case, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials reported a suspect was released after being arrested for attacking a minor.

ICE warned on Friday that the unidentified individual had been for weeks before they were finally able to track him down. But the only reason a warning was necessary was that the Hartford Correctional Facility disregarded their detainer and set him free.

Officials expressed frustration with locales which do not adhere to federal concerns and pose a significant threat to law-abiding citizens.

Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons lamented the lack of local cooperation with agents attempting to protect the public.

He explained, “This is a disturbing example of how non-cooperative jurisdictions can pose a significant threat to communities in our region. Despite the presence of an immigration retainer, local authorities released an alleged…predator onto the streets of a Connecticut neighborhood.”

Liberal-dominated communities tend to elect local leaders and prosecutors who believe themselves to be “sanctuaries.” This leads to blatantly ignoring authorities attempting to remove violent illegals from the streets.

The suspect illegally entered the U.S. in 2013 and was arrested in Texas. Officials released him after he was assigned to a family in New Britain, Connecticut.

But on Sept. 14, 2023, he was charged with attacking a minor under the age of 13. ICE one month later issued a detainer request, but that was subsequently ignored by authorities at the Hartford facility and he was released on Feb. 1, 2024.

ICE apprehended the unidentified suspect on April 4.

The detainer request asked officials at the state and local levels to notify ICE if they intended to release the illegal migrant suspect. But in the spirit of non-cooperation, it was ignored.

Not surprisingly, Hartford in 2008 announced that it was now a “sanctuary” city. With this came the expressed policy of not working with federal officials on illegal migrants in custody, and the results are apparent.

There are many cities, including New York City and Chicago, which now regret such misguided actions. There is no justification for prioritizing non-existent “rights” of illegal migrants over the safety of U.S. citizens.
