Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) is seeking legislation allowing illegal immigrants in the state to receive a driver’s license.
While the legislation is well-meaning, licenses for illegal aliens can be a source of numerous problems, which Democratic legislators almost always fail to address.
One major oversight is that states like Connecticut and Delaware that issue licenses to illegal immigrants don’t have a separate type of license for citizens and illegals, making it far easier for non-citizens to sign up to vote. In 2018, Illinois found that hundreds of non-citizens were mistakenly registered to vote in the state.
Historically, Democrats have paid little mind to concerns about voter fraud.

While fraud isn’t a major concern to some politicians, one would hope that the safety of Americans would at least be taken into account. President Joe Biden has stated before that he doesn’t think that illegal immigrants should be deported for drunk driving saying, “You only arrest for the purpose of dealing with a felony that’s committed, and I don’t consider drunk driving as a felony.”
While drunk driving can be either a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the circumstances, Biden’s lax attitude toward it not only shows that the president is an artifact of a different time but also suggests he’d like to keep illegals in the country, even if they endanger American lives.
Democrats in Congress agree with the president, of course. Last month, 150 Democrats voted against the H.R.6976 – Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act. Two days later, a drunk illegal immigrant killed an American in a car accident and was convicted of a felony homicide. Democrats don’t think that he should have been deported until after killing someone.
19 states currently allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, when it would have been unthinkable even in blue states in years past. Oregon voters in 2014 overwhelmingly voted against a measure to allow illegal aliens to be issued driver’s licenses in the state.
Many states are against the movement to license illegals, including Florida, where illegals are banned from driving — even if they were issued a driver’s license in another state.
While the move to license illegal immigrants is taking blue states by storm, red states, so far, have been staunchly opposed. Whether a swing state like Wisconsin will be able to pass such a measure is yet to be seen.
