Jan. 6 Committee Members Fear For Lives If Trump Re-Elected

Former members of the thoroughly discredited House Jan. 6 committee are now swimming in a sea of political angst. They are shouting to anyone with ears that they fear for their very lives if former President Donald Trump is re-elected to the White House.

Persecutors of the 45th president recently told CBS News that they worry about retribution should Trump gain a second term in the Oval Office in November.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was so shaken by the possibility of consequences for his actions that he discussed his possible fate with his wife. Among his and other Democrats’ worries are they will be jailed under a second Trump administration.

At issue for Democrats and their two “Republican” allies is a Truth Social post written by the former president last month.

Never shy about posting his thoughts, Trump expressed his belief that former Rep. Liz Cheney “should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” Anyone who has been alive for the past seven years knows his penchant for such statements.

But Schiff claimed to be unconvinced. “My wife and I have had conversations about what life would look like if the worst happened…You can’t avoid the conversations about ‘What if?’ And I have to think about my personal safety.”

So, Trump’s persecutors now want to recast themselves as martyrs?

First of all, none of them faces the slightest danger beyond being the object of a derisive post on Truth Social. There will be no roundups and no arrests of political opponents — unlike the fates of many a Biden critic.

Trump had ample opportunity during his four years in the White House to weaponize the government against his critics, and unlike his successor, he refused.

That reality does not placate the leftist committee members who want nothing more than to paint themselves in a heroic and tragic light.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said she is fearful that Trump will do what he said he will do. That to her apparently means being burned at the stake or at least forced to watch Fox News.

And even those who did not serve on the committee want to get props for being in the line of Trump’s fire.

Former D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone told CBS News that he is also worried. “He is going to weaponize the Department of Justice…and use it to go after people like myself…He’s telling us exactly what he plans to do.”

The critic of the former administration is now a law enforcement analyst for CNN.
