Former Trump administration official Mike Pompeo says that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) leaked classified information during his time in office.
“During my time as CIA director and secretary of state, I know that he leaked classified information that had been provided to him,” Pompeo alleged during an appearance on Fox News show “Outnumbered” Wednesday.
The former CIA director did not offer clearer details on the matter but maintained it was so bad he had to lessen what he said to Congress.
Show co-host Emily Compagno asked Pompeo about why there has been no justice if such leaks potentially are “a felony at minimum, up to treason.”
“It’s a complicated process, right? It’s difficult to pin down precisely what happened,” answered Pompeo. “But I could tell you that when we provided information to him and to his staff, it ended up in places it shouldn’t have been with alarming regularity. We could see it. In the end, I decided, I held back information from them as a result.”

Schiff spokesperson Lauren French issued a statement responding to the former CIA director’s remarks.
“This is another patently false and defamatory statement from Mike Pompeo,” she began. “While we understand that Adam Schiff is a favorite target for the failed lackeys of the Trump administration running for president, reputable news outlets shouldn’t repeat these falsehoods.”
Schiff has said in the past that he did not leak any type of classified information. “I haven’t. My staff hasn’t,” he said to CNN in 2020 before clarifying, “I can’t speak for what all the members of the committee have done or not done, including a lot of the Republican members.”
Pompeo is not the only former Trump official to suggest Schiff is leaking compromising information. Former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell alleged in January 0f 2021 that Schiff and his team “regularly” leaked classified information.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) also had questions about Schiff’s conduct. When speaking with conservative commentator Lisa Boothe in April 2021, Cotton indicated that Schiff may be a source for questionable reports on Russia offering monetary rewards to Afghan militants in exchange for the killing of U.S. troops.
This allegation against the California congressman comes after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) removed him from the House Intelligence Committee, which he chaired for the past four years.
