Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is being attacked by the left for refusing to stand during the so-called “Black National Anthem” at the Super Bowl on Sunday evening.

The social media team for the Republican firebrand, who lost her election under questionable circumstances, sent a tweet via the “Kari Lake War Room” Twitter account — stating that Lake believes in just one unifying national anthem, and arguing that Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) “simply hates black people.”
“Our girl is against the idea of a ‘black National Anthem’ for the same reason she’s against a ‘white National Anthem,’” the tweet read. “She subscribes to the idea of ‘one Nation, under God.’ @katiehobbs is against it because she just simply hates black people.”

Her comments about Hobbs are likely in reference to the Democrat governor’s previous legal trouble regarding her discrimination against a Black former employee. Hobbs’ multimillion-dollar racial discrimination verdict was brought up multiple times by Lake during the governor’s race. The 2021 jury verdict awarding nearly $3 million came about as the result of racial discrimination lawsuit against then-Arizona Senate minority leader Hobbs.

Despite the fact that Hobbs is a “convicted racist,” Lake is the one catching heat from the left — simply for refusing to stand for a race-based “national anthem” that many critics argue is actually racist in itself because it sows division in the United States.
The “Black National Anthem” singer was Sheryl Lee Ralph, an actress on the popular show “Abbott Elementary.” The song, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” was sung before the Super Bowl at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
The song was written over a century ago by James Weldon Johnson, and has been deemed the Black National Anthem because it served as a rallying cry during the civil rights movement. It was first performed in honor of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday at a school where Weldon was the principal in Jacksonville, Florida.
Lake was one of several people who did not stand for the song at the stadium Sunday night.
Leftists on social media attacked her for it, with Twitter user Kevin Scott writing: “You don’t deserve to be governor and you aren’t.”

“Did Kari pay for her ticket or use campaign (election defense legal funds maybe)?” another Twitter user, Kyle Sellers, asked.
Meanwhile, others praised Lake’s actions.
“I ONLY stand for the USA NATIONAL ANTHEM. I have zero issue with not standing considering the # of NFL players history of kneeling during the USA National Anthem,” one user tweeted.
