Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) introduced legislation this week that would end coordination between the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) with local enforcement to carry out “no-knock raids” on American gun owners. The Federal Agent Responsibility Act, co-sponsored by Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), seeks to prevent such raids that pose an unreasonable risk to the public and infringe upon the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.
The bill recognizes an exception in the event of a serious and imminent life-threatening injury to law enforcement officers or others. The legislation was introduced as part of a package of bills protecting the Second Amendment rights of all Americans, including the Protecting Gun Rights and Due Process Act, which strengthens the due process rights of gun owners.

Good’s concerns addressed by the bill stem from the ATF’s recent “AR pistol stabilizer brace rule,” which he fears could increase coordination between the ATF and local agents to perform no-knock warrants on law-abiding gun owners.
National Association for Gun Rights president Dudley Brown praised Good and Perry’s efforts to fight back against the “incessant anti-gun policies of Biden and his machine.”
Good is a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights and has been endorsed by the Gun Owners of America. He argues that the right to keep and bear arms is fundamental to the foundation of America, and any attempts to limit those who responsibly own firearms only serve to expand measures that infringe upon their rights.
Good cited Virginia’s “gun control laws,” such as red flag laws, one handgun a month laws and universal background check laws, as examples of measures that have stepped on the constitutionally protected rights of law-abiding citizens.
The use of no-knock warrants is generally reserved for suspected drug crimes, situations deemed dangerous by law enforcement, or cases where the evidence sought could be destroyed in the time it takes to announce themselves. However, unrestricted no-knock warrants have proven to pose a risk to law enforcement and gun owners. Good’s legislation seeks to prevent government overreach and the weaponization of federal agencies against law-abiding citizens.
The introduction of this legislation comes amidst an ongoing debate over gun rights in America, with the Biden Administration aggressively pushing for stricter regulations. Good said Biden is weaponizing every part of the executive branch to infringe upon the rights of all Americans. He argues that law-abiding gun owners should not fear federal agents coming to confiscate their guns.
