Biden Exchanged 29K Emails With Family, Business Firms Using VP Email

Under the Obama administration, then-Vice President Joe Biden used his White House email account to exchange thousands of emails with his family members and their respective businesses, according to documents obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The documents — which were released by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) on Tuesday in response to the request by America First Legal — showed that Joe Biden used his vice-presidential email account to exchange more than 29,000 emails with his brother, Jim Biden, and his son, Hunter Biden, and their business groups. This news directly contradicts numerous claims made by the president trying to distance himself from his family’s business dealings.

America First Legal — a nonprofit law group led by former Trump administration officials — commented on the documents in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“These damning numbers further confirm that there was never a wall separating the Office of the Vice President and Hunter Biden’s business endeavors,” the post read. “In fact, there was extensive commingling between them.”

Court documents published by America First Legal show that the then-vice president’s office exchanged 19,335 emails with Rosemont Seneca — which is Hunter Biden’s private equity firm — and 3,738 emails with Jim Biden’s Chinese Communist Party-tied consulting firm, Lion Hall Group. The documents also show that Joe Biden’s office exchanged 4,243 emails with Hunter Biden and 1,751 emails with Jim Biden.

Joe Biden has repeatedly insisted that he never discussed business with his son or brother — claiming during his 2019 presidential campaign that there would be “an absolute wall” between a Biden administration and personal or private matters.

“There wasn’t any hint of scandal at all when we were there,” Biden claimed at the time, referring to his time in the White House under former President Barack Obama. “And I will impose the same kind of strict, strict rules. That is why I have never talked with my son or my brother or anyone else in the distant family about their business interests, period.”

America First Legal referenced Biden’s attempted defenses in another post on X, writing: “There was never a wall between the Biden’s personal lives, business endeavors, and the government. Our lawsuit against the National Archives just unearthed that Biden’s Vice Presidential office emailed with Hunter and Jim Biden over 29,000 times. So much for that wall.”

America First Legal has not yet obtained the actual text of the emails — as NARA claimed it would take over 15 months to process the information.
Meanwhile, this information will still be useful to the House Republicans’ investigations into the alleged Biden family influence-peddling scheme. House Oversight Committee member Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) responded to the news on X, writing: “The Big Guy was definitely involved. Heavily.”

NARA is also facing a different lawsuit from Southeastern Legal Foundation over Joe Biden’s use of a pseudonym as vice president — with the law firm suing to demand NARA hand over approximately 5,400 emails connected to Biden’s pseudonym accounts.
