Democratic Senator Urges U.S. To Forge ‘Clean Energy’ Independence

In an era where the disastrous loss of U.S. energy independence under the Biden administration reverberates across the nation, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) advocates for a turn toward self-reliance. During her recent tour across eastern Washington, Murray passionately conveyed her belief that the future of America lies in its own hands, calling for the country to move to a clean energy economy.

“We are moving to a clean energy economy. And what we want is the United States of America to have that economy and not to rely on foreign countries. So, what do we do? We gotta build it here. And here in Moses Lake, we are seeing an opportunity to create that new clean energy economy,” Murray proclaimed.

Murray’s firm stance on energy independence highlights an area where even Democrats must distance themselves from the Biden administration’s failures. It appears that they’re attempting to pivot to energy independence as the 2024 election looms, acknowledging the need for self-reliance, especially as the aftermath of Biden’s destructive policies continues to cripple America’s standing.

Murray’s visits across eastern Washington included a tour of Big Bend Community College’s modern vocational/tech training center and roundtable discussions with leaders in education, utilities, technology, and economic development. The focus was clearly on workforce training and improving clean energy within the region.

One promising venture is the development of a silicon-based battery for electric vehicles by Group14 Technologies, predicted to recharge in five minutes and offer a 400-mile range. With support from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Moses Lake area is becoming attractive to emerging tech and manufacturing companies, thanks to low-cost electrical power and lower costs for undeveloped land and labor.

This is not mere rhetoric; it is action. Murray, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, spoke of project funding, investment incentives, tax credits, and workforce training opportunities. These have been offered through Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration actions on the $55 billion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the $280 billion CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.

Washington State is a beacon for agricultural production, with over 35,000 farms contributing to more than 164,000 jobs statewide. Murray’s focus on agriculture and promoting rural economic development aligns with a broader vision of self-reliance and national pride.

The call for energy independence resonates with many Americans who have experienced the consequences of dependency on foreign energy sources. The efforts and ideas presented by Senator Murray mark a necessary pivot, recognizing the importance of domestic production and innovation.
