Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur Announces Presidential Bid

In a surprising turn of events, progressive media personality Cenk Uygur of “The Young Turks,” has thrown his hat into the ring for a presidential run. Uygur’s main objective is to exert pressure on President Joe Biden, encouraging him to withdraw from the upcoming presidential contest.

“We must change course,” Uygur declared, expressing his skepticism about Biden’s chances, stating that the President has, at best, “a 10% chance” of securing victory in the presidential race. Uygur didn’t mince words, going so far as to label Donald Trump as an “actual fascist.”

While he asserted that his run is aimed at winning, he also emphasized that he sees himself as a proxy for other potential candidates, all with the shared goal of persuading Biden to step aside. “We have got to get Biden outta the race,” Uygur insisted. “So my job is to be basically Paul Revere: Biden’s gonna lose, Biden’s gonna lose, Biden’s gonna lose.”

He made it clear that he intends to exert significant pressure on the President to exit the race.
However, Uygur faces a substantial constitutional hurdle in his pursuit of the presidency.

As a naturalized citizen, he encounters a direct conflict with the U.S. Constitution, which clearly stipulates that only “natural born Citizens, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution” are eligible for the office of the President. Uygur vigorously rejects this notion, firmly asserting his eligibility to run.

“Case law is clear. Naturalized citizens can run for President,” Uyghur wrote on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, making a compelling argument for his candidacy. He went on to express that winning this case in the Supreme Court would be a pivotal moment, potentially removing a perceived obstacle affecting 25 million naturalized citizens.

Uygur is resolute in his belief that the Supreme Court has already affirmed their equal rights.
On the other side of the political spectrum, President Biden is steadily advancing as the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee. Recent polls have shown him surpassing both Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson by a significant margin.

Interestingly, Kennedy has now announced his decision to run as an independent candidate, adding an intriguing twist to the unfolding political landscape.
