The Cleveland Browns announced an alarming diagnosis concerning wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. Goodwin began noticing shortness of breath and leg discomfort during team events in the spring. These concerning symptoms resulted in a check-up visit with his physician.
After the 32-year-old athlete underwent evaluation, testing revealed blood clots in his legs and lungs. The player will not be able to participate in the opening session of training camp. It’s not yet determined when he will be able to play again.

Marquise Goodwin, who is entering his 10th season in the NFL, plans to stay by his team’s side while attending regular meetings as the training camp kicks off today in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. His diagnosis has slowed him down but hasn’t stopped him from showing up and supporting the Browns.
On-field practice is paused so Goodwin can focus on his physical and mental health. It is unknown when the wide receiver will be able to get back on the field with the rest of his team members.
The Texas native started his career in 2013 after being drafted by the Bills and spent four years in Buffalo before spending another three years with the 49ers. He signed with the Browns this offseason after catching 27 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns in a single season while playing for the Seahawks.
Goodwin commented about his diagnosis, “It was really alarming at first because I’ve experienced injury throughout my career, but it’s never been anything like this that could turn into something detrimental if it’s not taken care of.”
“It was frightening at first, but now I’m at ease with it. I’ve prayed and just given it over to God.” Goodwin also mentioned that the team has been exceptionally supportive by allowing him to remain close to them, attend meetings, and be present on the field while he navigates this difficult time.
“Hopefully this thing gets back under control and I can feel my body and what I need to feel so I can help this team make this run,” he said. Goodwin stated he is grateful for the Browns’ support and hopes to have his health issue under control soon so he can rejoin his team.
