Carlson Blasts Hunter Biden’s Sweetheart Deal With Dad’s DOJ

Tucker Carlson unleashed a barrage of criticism on his new Twitter episode at the plea deal awarded to first son Hunter Biden by the Department of Justice.

The younger Biden reportedly agreed to plead guilty to a pair of misdemeanor tax charges. For this he is required to serve probation and pay the back taxes that he owes the IRS.

He will also enter a diversion program on charges of lying on a federal form when he applied for a gun license.

Carlson dryly noted, “As in most of the developing world, it’s safer to be the president’s son than his opponent.” This an obvious reference to the Biden administration leveling dozens of charges against his chief rival, former President Donald Trump.

The host said Hunter Biden pled guilty “to pretty much nothing.” This way, Merrick Garland’s Justice Department can wipe their hands clean of the affair, which is now “done.”

As Carlson said, the sweetheart deal represented a “lifetime of sins washed away in an instant.” Despite the high profile and seriousness of the charges, the 53-year-old Hunter did not endure a perp walk, was not handcuffed, and there was no press conference.

The investigation into tax and financial allegations spanned five years only to end in a whimper. According to Carlson, the president’s Justice Department in effect “baptized’ Hunter.

The former Fox News host credited Trump with predicting the Justice Department’s slap on the wrist to the president’s son. Carlson noted that about two weeks ago, Trump wrote, “They’ll hit Hunter with something small to make their strike on me look fair.”

He lamented that the Justice Department did not deem it necessary to hold a dramatic pre-dawn raid for the CNN cameras. “Above all there was no felony. Hunter Biden, who broke federal gun laws can still carry a gun. It’s like it all never happened.”

The younger Biden claimed on a gun application that he did not abuse drugs. However, he detailed in his autobiography his substance abuse issues, which included use of crack cocaine that led to a stay in rehab.

NBC News reported that prosecutors will recommend probation for Hunter Biden. And the Washington Post revealed that the total probation recommended will be two years.

Biden lawyer Christopher Clark released a statement saying that “Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement.” He added that the firearm charge is subject to “a pretrial diversion agreement.”
